複雑に絡み合う地域課題解決に向けた「多対多」の異分野融合・地域志向研究を推進

現在の我が国では、人口減少・少子高齢化・産業システムの転換・財政再建・低炭素化等の社会環境の急激な変化に起因して、地域課題も多様化し、課題間・地域間でも複雑に絡み合っています。金沢大学では、総合大学として多様な専門分野を有する強みを活かし、環境と生業の両立を目指す里山里海再生研究、地域特性に合わせた持続可能なエネルギーの創成、風土や住民特性に即した予防医療や健康増進、老朽化した社会インフラの整理統合・多機能化、都市と農村の関係再構築、地域の産業・雇用を支える地域内経済循環の促進など、地域の持続的発展を志向した研究活動を展開しています。COC事業では、これまで各分野で個別に行われてきた様々な地域志向研究活動を基礎に、諸課題の関係性をふまえて、地域のステークホルダーとの対話・協働と、異分野の研究融合によって、地域の総合的な問題解決にあたり、地域を起点とした多面的な「サステイナビリティ（持続可能性）科学技術の確立」を目指します。
Promotion of Interdisciplinary, Region-oriented Research for Solving Intertwined Regional Problems
Currently in Japan, rapid changes in society such as decreasing population, declining birth rate and aging, post-industrialization, financial reform and change to low-carbon energy have produced diverse regional problems that are intricately intertwined. Kanazawa University, utilizing its resources as a multidisciplinary university with a number of specialized fields of study, has conducted research for sustainable regional development in various areas: revitalization of Satoyama-satoumi ecosystem; creation of new sustainable energy according to regional characteristics; preventative medicine and health care adequate for the local residents; designing multifunctional infrastructure restructuring; the reconstruction of relationships between cities and agricultural villages; and the promotion of regional economic circulation for local employment. In the COC project, we will not only integrate the accomplishments from these various independently researched fields, but also with an understanding of the relationships between diverse regional problems, and through dialog and cooperation with the stakeholders, we will solve these intertwined issues in the regions, and establish multifaceted sustainable scientific technologies based on regional resources.
